*तंबाकू नियंत्रण में शैलेन्द्र सिंह नेगी को उत्कृष्ट योगदान के लिए राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार – टोबैको कंट्रोल हीरोज से किया सम्मानित*

15 अगस्त 2025 को स्वतंत्रता दिवस के अवसर पर आयोजित ऑनलाइन कार्यक्रम में स्ट्रैटेजिक इंस्टीट्यूट फॉर पब्लिक हेल्थ एंड एजुकेशन रिसर्च के द्वारा अपर जिलाधिकारी वित्त एवं राजस्व नैनीताल एवं नगर निगम ऋषिकेश के तत्कालीन नगर आयुक्त शैलेन्द्र सिंह नेगी को तंबाकू नियंत्रण में उनके उत्कृष्ट योगदान के लिए राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार – टोबैको कंट्रोल हीरोज से सम्मानित किया गया है।
साल 2024 से नेगी ने सीओटीपीए, 2003 के तहत तंबाकू विक्रेता लाइसेंसिंग (TVL) को सफलतापूर्वक लागू किया, जिससे ऋषिकेश उत्तराखंड का अग्रणी शहर बना। उनके नेतृत्व में स्कूलों के आसपास तंबाकू-मुक्त क्षेत्र लागू किए गए, विक्रेता प्रोटोकॉल बनाए गए और अवैध तंबाकू बिक्री, विशेष रूप से नाबालिगों को, रोकने के लिए संयुक्त प्रवर्तन अभियान चलाए गए। उन्होंने स्वच्छ भारत और शहरी स्वास्थ्य पहलों में तंबाकू विरोधी संदेशों को भी शामिल किया, जिससे उन्हें राज्य और राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर पहचान मिली।
on the occasion of independent day celebration through online program on 15th August 2025 , strategic institute for public health and education research Shri Shailendra Singh Negi,ADM Nainital (was Municipal Commissioner of Nagar Nigam Rishikesh), has been honoured with the National Award – Tobacco Control Heroes for his exceptional contribution to tobacco control. The award was announced and delivered online by Dr Saurabh Varsney director AIIMS Deoghar.
Since 2024, Shri Negi has successfully implemented Tobacco Vendor Licensing (TVL) under COTPA, 2003, making Rishikesh a pioneer city in Uttarakhand. Under his leadership, tobacco-free zones around schools were enforced, vendor protocols were established, and joint enforcement drives were conducted to curb illegal tobacco sales, especially to minors. He also embedded anti-tobacco messages into Swachh Bharat and urban health initiatives, earning recognition at both state and national levels.
