उनके विचारोपदेश आत्मा और परमात्मा की एकरूपता पर आधारित हैं जिसके अनुसार परमात्मा एक ही समय में सगुण और निर्गुण दोनों ही स्वरूपों में रहता है। स्मार्त संप्रदाय में आदि शंकराचार्य को शिव का अवतार माना जाता है। इन्होंने ईश, केन, कठ, प्रश्न, मुण्डक, मांडूक्य, ऐतरेय, तैत्तिरीय, बृहदारण्यक और छान्दोग्योपनिषद् पर भाष्य लिखा। वेदों में लिखे ज्ञान को एकमात्र ईश्वर को संबोधित समझा और उसका प्रचार तथा वार्ता पूरे भारतवर्ष में की। उस समय वेदों की समझ के बारे में मतभेद होने पर उत्पन्न चार्वाक, जैन और बौद्ध मतों को शास्त्रार्थों द्वारा खण्डित किया।

कलियुग के प्रथम चरण में विलुप्त तथा विकृत वैदिक ज्ञानविज्ञान को उद्भासित और विशुद्ध कर वैदिक वाङ्मय को दार्शनिक, व्यावहारिक, वैज्ञानिक धरातल पर समृद्ध करने वाले एवं राजर्षि सुधन्वा को सार्वभौम सम्राट ख्यापित करने वाले चतुराम्नाय-चतुष्पीठ संस्थापक नित्य तथा नैमित्तिक युग्मावतार श्रीशिवस्वरुप भगवत्पाद शंकराचार्य की अमोघदृष्टि तथा अद्भुत कृति सर्वथा स्तुत्य है।

शंकराचार्य जी द्वारा रचित निर्वाण शतकम का सार यह है –

मनो बुद्धि अहंकार चित्तानि नाहम्
मैं मन, बुद्धि, अहंकार या स्मृति नहीं हूँ
न च श्रोत्रावजिह्वे न च घ्राण नेत्रे
मैं कान, त्वचा, नाक या आंख नहीं हूं
न च व्योम भूमिर न तेजो न वायुहु
मैं अंतरिक्ष नहीं हूँ, पृथ्वी नहीं हूँ, अग्नि नहीं हूँ, जल नहीं हूँ, या वायु नहीं हूँ
चिदानन्द रूपः शिवोऽहम् शिवोहम्
मैं चैतन्य और आनंद का स्वरूप हूँ, मैं ही शाश्वत शिव हूँ.
न च प्राण संज्ञो न वै पंच वायुहु
मैं न तो सांस हूँ, न ही पाँच तत्व
न वा सप्त धतूर न वा पंच कोषः
मैं पदार्थ नहीं हूँ, न ही चेतना के पाँच कोष
न वक् पाणि-पदं न चोपस्थ पयु
न मैं वाणी हूँ, न हाथ, न पैर
चिदानन्द रूपः शिवोऽहम् शिवोऽहम्
मैं चैतन्य और आनंद का स्वरूप हूँ, मैं ही शाश्वत शिव हूँ.
न मे द्वेषा रागौ न मे लोभा मोहौ
मुझमें न कोई पसंद है न नापसंद, न कोई लालच है न कोई भ्रम
न मे वै मदो नैव मात्सर्य भवः
मेरा कोई कर्तव्य नहीं है, धन, वासना या मुक्ति की कोई इच्छा नहीं है.
चिदानन्द रूप शिवोऽहम् शिवोऽहम्
ना कोई पुण्य ना कोई पाप, ना कोई सुख ना कोई दुःख
न मंत्रो न तीर्थं न वेद न यज्ञः
मैं अनुभवकर्ता नहीं हूँ, न ही अनुभव स्वयं है,
चिदानन्द रूपः शिवोऽहम् शिवोऽहम्
मैं चैतन्य और आनन्द स्वरूप हूँ, मैं ही सनातन शिव हूँ।
न मे मृत्युशंका न मेजति भेदहा
मुझे न मृत्यु का भय है, न जाति का, न पंथ का
पिता नैव मे नैव माता न जन्महा
मेरा कोई पिता नहीं है, कोई माँ नहीं है, क्योंकि मैं कभी पैदा ही नहीं हुआ.
न बंधुर न मित्रं गुरुर नैव शिष्यः
मैं न कोई रिश्तेदार हूँ, न कोई मित्र, न कोई शिक्षक हूँ, न कोई छात्र
चिदानन्द रूपः शिवोऽहम् शिवोऽहम्
मैं चैतन्य और आनंद का स्वरूप हूँ, मैं ही शाश्वत शिव हूँ
अहम् निर्विकल्पो निराकार रूपो
मैं द्वैत रहित हूँ, मेरा स्वरूप निराकार है
विभूत वेत्च सर्वत्र सर्वेन्द्रियानम्
मैं सर्वत्र विद्यमान हूँ, सभी इन्द्रियों में व्याप्त हूँ
न च संगतं नैव मुक्तिर न मेयः
मैं न तो आसक्त हूँ, न स्वतंत्र हूँ और न ही बंदी हूँ
चिदानन्द रूपः शिवोऽहम् शिवोऽहम्
मैं चैतन्य और आनन्द स्वरूप हूँ, मैं ही सनातन शिव हूँ।

Devbhoomi JK News Rishikesh- Jagatguru Bhagwan Shankaracharya Ji Maharaj’s birth anniversary was celebrated with great pomp today at Samarpananand Ashram in Ghughtani village located at Tapovan Laxman Jhula. On this occasion, devotees from the country and abroad participated in the program. Ashram’s founder president Swami Avdhoot Samarpananand Saraswati Ji Maharaj, while giving details about Guru Shankaracharya today, said that Yogi Shankaracharya Ji was born in 508 – 509 BC. He had established four monasteries in the four corners of India, which are still considered very famous and sacred and the monks who reside in them are called ‘Shankaracharya’. Those four places are – (1) Jyotishpeeth Badrikashram, (2) Shringeri Peetha, (3) Dwarka Sharada Peetha and (4) Puri Govardhan Peetha. He had also initiated many non-Hindu people into his religion. He is considered to be the incarnation of Shankar. He has given a very detailed and interesting explanation of Brahmasutras.

His teachings are based on the unity of the soul and the Supreme Soul, according to which the Supreme Soul exists simultaneously in both Saguna and Nirguna forms. In the Smarta sect, Adi Shankaracharya is considered to be an incarnation of Shiva. He wrote commentaries on Isha, Kena, Katha, Prashna, Mundaka, Mandukya, Aitareya, Taittiriya, Brihadaranyaka and Chandogya Upanishads. He considered the knowledge written in the Vedas to be addressed to the one and only God and propagated and discussed it throughout India. At that time, he refuted the Charvaka, Jain and Buddhist views that arose due to differences in the understanding of the Vedas through debates.

In the first phase of Kaliyuga, the infallible vision and wonderful work of the founder of Chaturamnaya-Chatushpeeth, daily and daily Yugamavatar Shri Shivaswarup Bhagwatpad Shankaracharya, who exposed and purified the extinct and distorted Vedic knowledge and enriched the Vedic literature on a philosophical, practical and scientific level and declared Rajarshi Sudhanva as the universal emperor, is absolutely praiseworthy.

The essence of Nirvana Shatakam written by Shankaracharya is –

mind intellect ego chittani naham
I am not the mind, intellect, ego or memory
Neither the hearing tongue nor the olfactory eyes
I am not ears, skin, nose or eyes
Na cha vyom bhumir na tejo na vayuhu
I am not space, not earth, not fire, not water, or air
Chidananda form: Shivoham Shivoham
I am the embodiment of consciousness and bliss, I am the eternal Shiva.
Na cha prana sanjno na va pancha vayuhu
I am neither breath nor the five elements
Neither Sapta Dhatur nor Panch Kosh.
I am not matter, nor the five sheaths of consciousness
Neither Vak Pani-Padam nor Chopastha Payu
I am neither speech, nor hands, nor legs
Chidananda form: shivoham shivoham
I am the embodiment of consciousness and bliss, I am the eternal Shiva.
Neither do I have hatred nor attachment nor do I have greed and attachment
I have neither likes nor dislikes, nor any greed nor any illusions.
Na me va mado naiva matsarya bhava.
I have no duty, no desire for wealth, lust or liberation.
Chidanand Roop Shivoham Shivoham
No virtue, no sin, no happiness, no sorrow
Neither mantras, nor pilgrimages, nor Vedas, nor yagyas.
I am not the experiencer, nor is the experience itself,
Chidananda form: shivoham shivoham
I am the embodiment of consciousness and joy, I am Sanatan Shiva.
There is no fear of death, no fear of death.
I am neither afraid of death, nor of caste, nor of creed.
Born with a naive father and a naive mother
I have no father, no mother, because I was never born.
Neither brother nor friend, guru, naive disciple:
I am neither a relative, nor a friend, nor a teacher, nor a student

ego nirvikalpo formless form
I am without duality, my form is formless
